Penelope Duns

"I have always been struck by the beauty and magic in everyday things. "

Colour and light, shapes and lines, are the essence of the art of my photography, a reflection through glass, the complex structure of a surface, the play of light and shadow, colours that sing together in harmony, shapes that form when things come together or are viewed a certain way.

I always try to express my feelings about the world through my photographs, to reach not just the physical but also to express the metaphysical, the fundamental nature of the subject and how it relates to its environment and to me, the observer.

All my life I've created stuff, paintings, ceramics, sculpture, computer programs, and more recently web pages. Digital images have always interested me, but I didn't take photography seriously until the beginning of 2004.

Projects:

In addition to my professional work, I have taken a major role in projects with the photo club Images et Son en Fumelois. These include:

Les Gens D'ici - an exhibition of portraits of local people taken in their home environment.

Monsempron Libos - a film/slideshow lasting 15 minutes, where I managed the processing of the photos and edited the film. The film was projected on the wall of the Priory in Monsempron

La Derniere Coulée - The last pouring of metal before the factory in Fumel shut down was photographed by myself and other members of the club. My job was create an exhibition, processing individual photos so that they presented a coherent whole. The exhibition, which was a huge success, was part of the Fumel photo festival 2019.

I hope you enjoy looking at my pictures as much as I enjoyed making them.
